Best Makeup Shades for Dance Recital
Ever wonder what the Best Makeup Shades for Dance Recital are? We’re here with our thoughts on the question! We are big fans of neutral, clean, and cohesive dance recital makeup here at Maxwell Dance Studio. Let’s dive in, starting with eye shadow!
**An Important note for dancers and parents: makeup is meant to be patted onto skin. If you brush it, you will not get the desired pigment you are looking for! Use your brush or sponge tip applier and dab the makeup to eyelids, cheeks, face, etc. The only brushing and/or blending done is when contouring!
We will always choose a neutral (beige, tan, brown, etc.) eyeshadow palette. We DO love the palettes that include sparkle! You can choose a color for the whole eyelid, or have fun with it! Put the middle color on the eyelid, the darkest color on the edge and crease, and the lightest color by the tear duct and right under the eyebrow.
For blush, go with a true pink! This will show up well on any skin tone and pop under the stage lights. When wearing everyday, blush is applied with a soft brushing movement. However, pat that stuff on for dance! It will help immensely to not look washed out.
As for lipstick, our very favorite that we’ve found is the Maybelline super stay lipstick! It is incredibly long lasting (we’re talking scrub it off), and the colors are magnificent. For our performance teams, we use the red shade called Dancer. We also love these pretty pinks!
